CALL FOR PAPERS AND SPECIAL SESSION ORGANIZATION:
We are pleased to invite you to UMTIK-2016, the 17th International Conference on Machine Design and Production, to take place between July 12 -July 15, 2016, in Bursa, the fourth biggest city of Turkiye in terms of its population and its
socioeconomic level (http://en.bursa.bel.tr/). As has been in the previous UMTIK Conferences, UMTIK-2016 aims to constitute a forum of prominent academics and professionals from all over the world to discuss the latest advancements, emerging technologies and systems in design and manufacturing of machines, manufacturing systems and technologies.
The first day of the Conference will be organized by Prof. Dr. Erhan Budak (ebudak@sabanciuniv.edu) and Prof. Dr. Ýsmail Lazoðlu (ilazoglu@ku.edu.tr) as "The Machining Day" on July 12th. If you are interested in organizing tutorials and/or workshops and/or submit papers on this topic please write to them. Further proposals of new tutorial and workshop topics from the academia and industry for the rest of the conference are also invited and encouraged.

Flexible and Distributed Manufacturing Systems
Intelligent Systems in Production
Emerging Technologies in Design and Manufacturing
Creativity and Innovation in Design
Smart and Intelligent Product Design
Sensor Technologies and Networks in Design
Engineering Education in Design and Production
All from academia and industry willing to disseminate, share and advance their knowledge and expertise are welcome to participate in this forum as authors or audience members.
With this call, we encourage you to submit your ideas about special sessions that you would like to organize on topics of your choice within the main frame of the conference. In the past, these sessions brought academia and industry experts together on selected topics and were found successful in forming new acquaintances and renewing old ones for possible future collaborations. The special sessions which are already announced in our web site (www.umtik.com) are "Optimization of Mechanical Systems and Manufacturing Processes", "Design Science and Timeaxis Design" and "Recent Progress in Advanced High Strength Steels Stamping". You can submit your manuscripts related with those topics directly to the organizers of those special sessions. If you want to organize a special session on another topic, you should send your proposal with your short CV to the Organizing Committee for approval. Organizers of special sessions will be responsible for collection, evaluation and editing of the papers in the conference format and submitting them to the Organizing Committee within the announced deadline. The organizers are also expected to chair their special sessions.
The venue for UMTIK-2016 is the Kervansaray Thermal Hotel (http://www.kervansarayhotels.com.tr/), located in Çekirge at the outskirts of
Uludað with a panoramic view of Bursa Plain. The conference participants staying at the Kervansaray Thermal Hotel can take the advantage of the use of
indoor and outdoor pools, and the famous Turkish Hamam in the historical Old Hot Springs. Also in the vicinity are many natural and historical points of
interest that the visitors can enjoy, such as Ulucami (Grand Mosque), Yeþil Cami (Green Mosque), Yeþil Türbe (Green Tomb), Uludað National Park,
Kapalicarsi (Grand/Covered Bazaar) authentic town Cumalikazik and many other. Other accommodation options for a variety of budgets will be offered on
the conference web site (www.umtik.com) in the coming months as the conference details emerge. There are quite a few options to travel to Bursa
from abroad. The most direct way for the air travelers is to take Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul as the destination point. At the airport you will find buses and midi-buses ready to take you to Bursa in about 2-3 hours..
